This is a used 2015 Scott Plasma that was a rental bike for the Ironman events in North America. Bikes are in good condition but do have a few scratches etc. Normal wear for a rental bike but still a deal at $1900. We tried to get pics of all the wear and tear.  Everything you see on the bike in the pics is included.

The Scott Plasma 20 Bike is the easiest way to take advantage of Scott’s aerodynamic genius for time trials and triathlons. The heart is the Plasma 10 frameset, also called in some places the Plasma 4, and it is a great foundation for a super bike.

The numbers can be confusing, but the big thing is that the 4 is better than the Plasma 3, which used to be Scott’s top-of-the-line aero bike. It was good enough for pro triathlons and the WorldTour, but no more. Scott put the 3 out to pasture with the Plasma 10 (aka Plasma 4) and the Plasma Team Issue (Plasma 5). The Team Issue is extremely complex, with lots of integration. The Plasma 10 is still four percent faster than the Plasma 3, and it rides better as well.

There are two big things Scott focused on with this frameset. They made it easier to adjust, which is important for finding that fast, comfortable position. They made it stiffer, which means it is easier to steer and more efficienty when applying power to the pedals.

Better adjustability was accomplised both at the saddle and handlebar. The seat post has 10cm of smooth fore-aft travel and has a simple, easy-to-adjust Ritchey one-bolt clamp. The 1 1/8” steerer tube pops out of the head tube below the top tube, making it easy to get low as well as fine tune stem height with spacers. The conventional steerer also means that finding stems, and by extension, bars, is easy, when you’re looking to get position perfect. Profile Design bars and extensions are used here, which are easy to adjust and customize.

Scott relies on Shimano 105 5800 componentry for most of the drivetrain. Dura-Ace simplfied is a good way to describe 105. Same functionality, in less expensive materials finished more simply. Dura-Ace bar-end shifters control the shifting. The gearing is set up for a wide range, with a 50/34 compact up front and 11-28 eleven-speed cassette in the rear. If you find yourself overpowering these gears, a pro-like 53/39 can be installed in the front and an 11-25 in the rear.

Wheels are from Syncros. It’s a reliable 27mm deep aluminum rim set. They’re fast enough to race, but the bigger benefit is they’re tough enough for daily training. If you look into upgrades here, know that rims up to 26.5mm wide and tires up to 25mm wide will fit without issue.

One of the great things about the Plasma 10 frameset of this bike is that it’s good enough to upgrade components when you’re ready to take your performance to the next level. Faster wheels, possibly electronic shifting, a more integrated front end, will all do well on this bike. The 10 frameset is good enough to take you to the pro level.

The Scott Plasma 20 Bike is a dip-your-toe-in-the-water time trial rig that can remain in your stable as you progress through the ranks.
